Monitor public download pages

Monitor a website for new files and download them automatically

When a website regularly publishes new or changed files, autofetch can monitor that public page for you. Matching download links are detected and passed as jobs to your local client.

For pages without RSS or JSON

Not every download page provides a structured feed. With the Custom URL source, you can add a public HTML page and let autofetch check its downloadable links.

  • Add a public web page
  • Optionally narrow results by text or file extension
  • Detect matching download links
  • Download locally through your client

Detect new or changed files

Depending on the source, autofetch can also identify changes using page text or HTTP metadata, which is useful for files that are updated in place.

Typical use cases

  • Project pages with regularly updated files
  • Download pages for documents or data exports
  • Pages where new versions use changing filenames
  • Public directories containing direct download links

Only pages you choose

autofetch does not crawl the web on its own. You provide the exact public page to monitor and choose filters that match your workflow.

If a feed is available

RSS or JSON is often preferable for structured sources. Website monitoring is mainly intended for public download pages that do not provide a suitable feed.
